The manufacturer finished constructing the injection mold tooling for the first two units and sent us half a dozen preproduction docking station samples for evaluation. This is the first time we've seen the production ready units in person and it is really exciting. They haven't fully polished the molds yet, in case we need to make some tweaks to the dock, but the production quality is very impressive. The color and detailing are spot on. They were able to relocate the ejector pins, that pop the dock out of the mold, to the underside of the unit so the marks aren't visible when the dock is in use. The final plastic density gives the docking station a respectable weight and solid feel, a far cry from most plastic products. It definitely blends in well with Apple's products.
